The skills gap is an across-the-board industry problem in manufacturing. Many manufacturers report a gap between the talent they desire in an employee and the talent they find in job seekers. A whopping 84% of executives agree that there is a talent shortage in U.S. manufacturing. Even more alarming: 3.4 million jobs will be vacated by retiring baby boomers while only 1.4 million will be filled by qualified candidates. That’s 2 million jobs hanging in limbo.
