Job Title: Quality Assurance Manager
Department: Quality
Reports To: General Manager/Vice President

 General Purpose of Job:

 Plans, coordinates, and directs ISO 9001-2000 quality system designed to ensure continuous production of products and service consistent with these established standards by performing the following duties or through subordinate supervisors.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:

 Responsible for maintaining the level of product quality throughout the manufacturing process and its repeatability.

 Ability to fulfill Quality Technician duties.

Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product.

Develops and implements policies and department procedures as required to ensure an effective and efficient operation.

Formulates and maintains quality control objectives and coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.

Responsible for developing and implementing an internal quality system audit program to monitor and ensure compliance with quality system requirements, including corrective actions, training, and follow up audits.

Responsible for maintaining the calibration updated for all inspection and testing equipment within the organization.

Responsible for training and directing workers and engaging in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.

Responsible for understanding and perpetuation of company policies.

Communicate with customers to discuss quality issues and ensure effective resolutions are achieved.

Responsible for continuous improvement in PPM, formal and informal customer complaints and quality system compliance. 

Conducts and maintains vendor surveys for all approved outside vendors.

Manages vendors to ensure good quality product.

Responsible for ISO 9001 – 2000 compliance with the monitoring of timely responses to C.A.R.’s and maintenance of Material Certification files and the record retention of same documents.

Directs all ISO 9001 – 2000 activity requirements in the capacity of Management Representative.

Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to product quality and compliance with the ISO 9001 – 2000 quality standards.

Participates in a variety of duties involving various aspects of manufacturing that my include but not limited to purchasing, inventory management, labor force, estimating, quality, and customer service.

Participate in strategic planning efforts of the company.

Responsible for accuracy and completeness of work to ensure customer satisfaction.

Work safely and abide by all safety rules.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises employees in the quality department.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Computer Knowledge:

Competency in the use of basic computer software such as Word & Excel.  Basic knowledge of CAD software such as Solid Works, Auto CAD, Pro E.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.   Must have demonstrated knowledge of blueprint reading, advanced quality planning, inspection, equipment and techniques, capability studies, statistical techniques, problem solving, team facilitation, geometric dimensioning, and tolerance.

 Language Skills:

 Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.   Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public in person or on the phone in a professional manner.  Bi-Lingual English/Spanish preferred.

 Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to understand basic financial statements and able to maintain inspection budget.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

None required, however, encouraged for example ISO9001 – 2000 lead assessor, ASQ or equivalent.
