Job Title: Sales/Outside
Department: Sales
Reports To: General Manager
General Purpose of Job:
Sell goods for manufacturer where technical or scientific knowledge is required in such areas as engineering, and manufacturing normally obtained from at least 2 years of post-secondary education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:
Proactively prospects for new business; e.g. cold calls, leads.
Interpret and understand complex drawings/customer specifications, to determine if the customer's requirements can be met using existing manufacturing methods.
Partners with inside sales to optimize company are selling efforts.
Keeps credit department informed of changes in customer status.
Must have experience and understanding of drawings and blue prints and quoting stamping, sheet metal fabrication, welding, powder coating, painting, plating and mechanical assemblies.
Self-starter with excellent decision making and customer care and communication skills
Knowledge of fabrication means and methods practices and costs
Works closely with appropriate company personnel to ensure that new accounts are set up in the most effective, efficient and otherwise appropriate manner.
Carries out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical and professional manner.
Contact new and existing customers to discuss their needs, and to explain how these needs could be met by specific products and services.
Answer customers' questions about products, services, availability, and credit terms.
Emphasize product features based on analyses of customers' needs, and on technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations.
Identify prospective customers by using business directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in organizations and clubs, and attending trade shows and conferences.
Select the correct products or assist customers in making product selections, based on customers' needs, product specifications, and applicable regulations.
Collaborate with colleagues to exchange information such as selling strategies and marketing information.
Work safely and abide by all safety rules.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Computer Knowledge:
Competency in the use of basic computer software such as Word & Excel. Internet use for prospecting or research.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have demonstrated knowledge of blueprint reading, problem solving, team facilitation, sheet metal fabrication, short run stampings, and basic knowledge of material and finishing process.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, gross margin, proportions, percentage, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
